Brief
Melanoma is a preventable cancer, yet many young adults (18-35) underestimate the importance of daily sun protection. Traditional awareness campaigns often struggle to make an impact with young digital audiences. The challenge was to create an interactive and shareable experience that effectively communicates the risks of sun damage and the importance of sunscreen use.
Approach
We collaborated with Fuck Cancer and MRF to develop the Sun Safety Filter, an Instagram and TikTok AR experience designed to show users the potential impact of prolonged sun exposure on their skin. By leveraging augmented reality, we provided a personalised and visually compelling demonstration of how daily sunscreen use can prevent premature ageing and skin damage. The filter encouraged users to interact, share their results, and spread the message organically—amplifying the campaign’s reach.
Campaign Outcomes
15 days, 129k users engaged.
Over 15 day period the Sun Safety Filter campaign engaged with 129k users on Meta platforms, effectively increasing awareness among the target demographic.
This digital, shareable experience not only reinforced daily sunscreen habits but also educated users on melanoma prevention. This initiative strengthened Fuck Cancer and MRF’s digital advocacy efforts, establishing a successful model engaging future health education campaigns.
